Bespoke software and integration

Kiwitech Solutions · Services

Kiwitech Solutions builds custom internal tools for New Zealand businesses, and connects the systems they already pay for so data stops being retyped by hand. You own everything Kiwitech makes for you, and the price is fixed before the work starts.

When off-the-shelf stops fitting

There is a point most growing businesses reach where the software is no longer helping. The spreadsheet has forty tabs and one person who understands it. The job details live in three systems and none of them agree. Somebody spends a morning every week copying numbers from one screen into another.

The usual advice is to buy a bigger platform. Sometimes that is right. Often it means paying a monthly fee forever to get eighty percent of what you need, changing how you work to suit the software, and still doing the copying by hand.

The alternative is a small piece of software that does exactly the thing you need and nothing else, and some plumbing between the tools you already have.

What Kiwitech actually builds

Two kinds of work, usually in the same project.

  • Internal tools — a job tracker, a quoting calculator, a scheduling board, a stock view, a portal your customers can log into. Built around how your team already works rather than how a product manager in another country imagined it.
  • Integrations — the connections that let your website, CRM, accounting system and job management talk to each other, so a change in one shows up in the others without anyone retyping it.
  • Data cleanup and migration — getting years of history out of the old system and into the new one without losing it or duplicating it.
  • Reporting — the numbers you actually run the business on, pulled from wherever they live and put in one place.

You own it

Everything Kiwitech builds for you belongs to you: the code, the data, the accounts it runs on. Where possible it is built on your own accounts and your own infrastructure, so there is no hostage situation if you ever want to take it elsewhere.

That is not a small point. A lot of small-agency software work leaves the client renting their own system back from the person who wrote it. Kiwitech does not work that way, and it is written into how projects are scoped.

What it costs and how long it takes

Fixed price, quoted before any work starts. Most first builds are live in two to six weeks, and you see it working as it comes together rather than waiting for a reveal at the end.

Bigger systems get broken into pieces that each stand up on their own. The first piece is chosen because it is the one causing the most pain, so there is something useful in your hands early even if the full picture takes longer.

Common questions

What happens if I want to change it later?

You own the code, so you can change it with anyone. Kiwitech offers ongoing support and most clients take it, but it is a choice rather than a lock-in. The handover includes the accounts, the code and a plain-English explanation of how it works.

Can you work with the system we already have?

Usually yes. Most business software has a way in, even older systems. If something genuinely cannot be connected, Kiwitech will say so early rather than discovering it halfway through and billing for the detour.

Is custom software not more expensive than buying something?

Sometimes, and when it is, Kiwitech will tell you to buy the thing. Custom is worth it when the off-the-shelf option needs heavy configuration, charges per seat forever, or does not fit how you actually work.
